Virgin Vacation are a Hong Kong-based instrumental group that combines elements of psychedelia, math rock, jazz and electronic music to create a sound that marks them out as unique in the city’s music scene. The band has just released a music video for the track ‘Third Eye’ off their debut EP ‘Virgin Vacation’. The video is directed by Bangkok-based artist and filmmaker Beam Wong.
The dreamlike video follows the journey of a host of CGI eyeballs, optic nerves attached, as they drift in the skies above Hong Kong. They rise higher into the blue sky until they merge with a pulsating ovum-like object and give birth to a three-eyed, ten-limbed star child, who in turn releases more eyeballs from its third eye before floating menacingly towards the center of Bangkok.
The track it’s paired with is a jazzy, psychedelic post-rock offering with a number of surprising twists and turns.
