Myanmar Punk Rock Band The Rebel Riot Release New Song of Revolution

Punk rock band The Rebel Riot has had quite the year (the band released their fucking AMAZING debut album ‘One Day’) and are ending it with a brand new song and music video to help continue to support the ongoing protest movement in Myanmar. Solidarity with freedom fighters all over the world!

Here’s the full write up from the band:

“Bella Ciao is Italian and can be translated as “Goodbye, beautiful”. It was a resistance song for anti-fascists during World War II and is still used internationally in many languages for revolutionary dictatorships.

The Burmese version of this song was written by Comrade Zin Lin.

This song was written during the 2015 student strike, and we often sang it every time we met. He is currently being held in Insein Prison against the military dictator. Like Comrade Zin Lin, many young people are imprisoned, tortured, and being killed every day. However, despite all this oppression, the people of the whole country are still fighting in various ways without kneeling down against the dictator. More than nine months after the coup, anti-fascist movements are still rampant.

This song is more than just a song, it pays tribute to each and every one of the anti-fascists in Burma today, and proves that the revolution has not gone cold…Viva la Revolution!!!!”
