Kaala Releases First of 5 Sets from Fukushima Punk & Grind Concert – 己是 OSER [Japan]

Since the start of the pandemic, Kaala‘s been working with bands and venues in Japan’s extreme music scenes to bring the sounds of the underground online. Most recently, they’ve started taking road trips to more secluded areas to document the sounds that go even more unheard than the other stuff, and to start with they’ve been exploring Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima’s punk and grind offerings.

On Sunday, October 24th, 2021, there was a 5-band gig held at Aizuwakamatsu’s Karan堂 live house. The set from local icons 己是 (OSER) is the first one that has been completed, and it’s a 30-minute set of blistering Tohoku hardcore.

On this venture, Kaala collaborated with Live Labo Scenes – a film crew more often associated with the electronic scene – to bring some new ideas into the mix, and the result is, at the very least, a helluva good start.
