FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Singapore promoters Street Noise have released a statement regarding idiots who choose to gatecrash shows. The absurdity of these types of individuals certainly goes beyond logic – at the heart of it, they’re just selfish, self-centered pricks who don’t understand, nor care to understand, the amount of time, energy and money that goes into hosting shows for overseas bands. It also should never need to be mentioned (but apparently needs to be mentioned), that most promoters out here in Asia have a dayjob! This is NOT their bread and butter because there is simply NOT enough money to be made. So why are we doing it? Because we love the bands and want to bring them to our city/country.
It just feels ridiculous to even have to type that paragraph above.
We stand by our buddies in Street Noise and EVERY legit promoter throughout Asia who go above and beyond what’s required in order for shows to even take place.
Read their statement. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
“What do you call friends …. who steal from friends??
Well that’s what gatecrashers are. Sadly some of these people are people we know personally and stand side by side with us when we go over to watch other shows.
It is our view and policy that nobody, absolutely nobody, should miss a show that they’ve always wanted to watch but constrained by limited funds during that period. Anyone who comes to us, we will, and have always worked out something for you. We have never turned anyone away. Never. Street Noise existed to make things happen for everyone. For as long as we exist, we will never turn anyone away. Even cancer patients who wanted to watch Vader we have provided for them. All expenses on us. NOBODY IS LEFT BEHIND THIS IS OUR PROMISE.
But turns out some people choose to do otherwise. It saddens us to know this yet we do not want to see our friends in trouble. If it had been the big boys promoters, there will never be 2nd chances, 3rd chances. You get turned in straightaway. But you do it to us because we DIY things the best way we can, because you can get away with it, because we are not harsh on you. Kindness probably has a limit. No problem. We hear you.
Let us know if you have difficulties, we will help. We will make it happen for you. But if you choose to steal from us, we will do the necessary. We are all normal guys with families and mouths to feed, on top of our daily grind. Feel us.
Respect the crew. Respect people who made it work. And respect yourself. You know who you are.”
I don’t know why, your every hello feels like every goodbye A fleeting glimpse of beauty like ephemeral rainbows in the sky Or like how I miss my pillow...
