Have had the pleasure of meeting Rico online first and then in person when I tagged along with Sick of it All on their Euro tour back in 2013. Great, incredible, humble dude…
His organization Hardcore Help Foundation always reminds me of when I first got into hardcore in the 90’s. At the shows, there would be tables and tables of local anti-racism organizations handing out pamphlets, tables of people collecting food for food drives to hand out to the needy, vegan/vegetarian information tables, etc. I just remember how walking into a show like this was an absolute cultural event – it felt like I was walking into a whole different world that was SO unlike the world outside. The world outside was all about me, me, me, and trying to cultivate as much personal wealth, whereas, within these walls, it was a collection of people who wanted to constantly give, give, give. Even if giving was literally taking what little they already had and giving it to others.
Read up more on Rico and this wonderful organization who do SO MUCH for refugees of all ethnicities, religions, race, etc.
Love you, bro!
