TOUR REPORT: King Ly Chee China Tour 2015 – Kunming

Today’s show was something we were really looking forward to playing. As a band that has been around for 16 years now we are always psyched to play places we’ve never been to – Kunming is a city in China that is KNOWN for a having a huge and quite dedicated heavy music fan base. I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of messages we’ve received from people in Kunming for the past few years pleading for us to get our asses there.

Suddenly – a few days before this tour started one of our shows – a show in Hefei – got canceled, for reasons that still seem a little sketchy. Either way, we were left with an open date and I scoured all my contacts to see if there was anywhere we could fill that date. While I was searching suddenly I received a message from a brand new venue in Kunming called MAO Livehouse – yes, the infamous MAO Livehouse from Beijing this past year has opened 20 live houses all over China! Craziness…but that just shows you how huge the live music market is in China right now…

Anyway…they really wanted us to come down and made it work for us so that we would not lose out. We agreed, changed our flights and made it happen…of course we were worried that the show would not be well attended because we had like 3 or 4 days to promote it…

But little did we know that within 4 days enough people would find out about it that we had almost 250 people show up at the show…

And the show was SPECTACULAR…dudes/girls were losing their frickin’ mind once we got on stage!

So sick…we loved every minute we were there…and can’t WAIT to get back to Kunming…

After the show I started noticing something was wrong with my throat…as a singer, that’s the worst feeling to have…little did I know how much hell I was going to have sleeping later that night and then all day in Chengdu the next day…will post about that next…

Kunming – we WILL definitely be back!
