Singapore-based Visual Kei Band MAO.A Release Music Video

Singaporean Visual Kei band MAO.A releases debut music video “SEVER”, an invitation for Japanese rock and modern metal fans to journey through the five stages of grief, while embodying the aggression and vulnerable rawness of modern metal and delicate vocals. The music video is a cross-country collaboration featuring cinematographer Tricksterfox3D (Russia) and Shibari Artist UnnamedMinor (Thailand).

Their first EP, “HAKAI” released on 18 May 2025 is charged with fire. HAKAI (破壊)—meaning “to destroy”, “destruction” — is a vibrant burst of emotions and energy, featuring themes of war and chaos in track one, Ningen (人間), the five stages of grief in track two, SEVER, and a neighbour who cooks good curry in track three tamaGO!. HAKAI is red, bold, and wild, like MAO.A’s courage in facing the human condition.

MAO.A made their debut by organising KIZUNA, a creators’ market and live music event to celebrate Visual Kei music and Japanese pop culture in Singapore. They performed a 70-mins set with originals as their debut to a passionate crowd of over 200. KIZU (meaning scars) and KIZUNA (meaning bonds) is a wish for all to celebrate their scars together and become stronger together.

MAO.A, whose name is imbued with the warrior gene, continues to support listeners in transforming inner shadows into courage.
