Self-Confessed “Pessimistic Optimists” Indie Rock Act So It Goes Release New EP [Hong Kong]

Originally formed in 2015, Hong Kong-based indie rock band So It Goes have just released a brand new 3-track EP simply entitled ‘Three’. Before even jumping into how beautifully melancholic the music is, the band’s own self-description is frickin’ perfect:

“So It Goes is formed by pessimistic optimists who find joy in darkness. In Slaughterhouse-Five, the phrase “so it goes” follows every occurrence of death no matter the circumstance. Of course, to look back is human, and humanity, including its darkness, weakness, and ugliness, is both fascinating and enduring, but when one is encumbered by the inevitable and tragic vicissitudes of life, there is no choice but to keep going. After all, “for whatever we lose, it is always ourselves we find in the sea.”

Damn. There are so many ways for bands to be “heavy”. It doesn’t always need to be attached to distorted guitars and pounding drums and throat-shredding screams, it could just be an overall vibe that is far more pummelling. So It Goes may sound sugary sweet, but under this guise is genuine darkness of a band just trying to make the most of their (our) situation here.

Mad respect to the band.
