yon.dershore is a 4-piece indie alternative band with a sprinkle of lo-fi, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Their journey started with only Yon and Jez jamming as a duo, and after a few months, Yo and Atoq joined them. The band members are a mix from other local underground bands: Atoq and Yo are from the band Motherland, Yon is from Shh… Diam! (also drums for Tingtongketz and Memento Mori), while Jez is also a bassist for Memento Mori.
yon.dershore’s new single, ‘Sial’, will be their second Malay song after releasing Lepas in 2020. ‘Sial’ revolves around depression that affects people around in various ways, and the song ‘Sial’ is written in reaction to a person who is experiencing heavy depression. ‘Sial’ is a Malay word that means “unpleasant” or “unfortunate”.
yon.dershore’s music can be described as still evolving, as they are a new band, formed in mid-2020. Nevertheless, each member of the band is giving his/her own unique touch to the live sound of yon.dershore and hopes that the pandemic will someday end so they can bring their live sound to the stage.
