Hong Kong metal band Darkness Pool has released the first taste of their upcoming debut album entitled Barren Survivors! This is fucking exciting for us on UniteAsia.org because our website is heavily invested in supporting anything that is heavy and anti-mainstream in Hong Kong.

Check out the lyric video for the song ?? down below! The song incorporates a strong groove element to the music interspersed with the obvious thrash metal overtones. 

Here’s a great description of the album from the band themselves:

“Barren Survivors is about how even though we are living in digressing state of Hong Kong, we still have to stick to our principles and faith regarding living a just and moral life.

This album blends the impulse of thrash metal, aggressive riffs, fast-pace and intensive solos as well as deep but blistering screaming; therefore representing turmoil, strength and termagancy.

As a native Hong Kong heavy metal band, on this album we return to our mother language, that is, we adopted Cantonese while composing the lyrics of Defence and ?Victoria City?. The songs reflect our helpless, discontent and indignant attitudes toward HK’s regression in terms of culture, politics and livelihood construction. In spite of this, we also want to convey the goodwill and encouragement of protecting and preserving local culture.

Let’s fight the world and survive in a barren all our own until the end.”
