Been on a tear checking out more Asian American hardcore lately…check out THE TARRYS on their brand new EP ‘Blind Desires’. The band features members who are putting on that insane Asian American Unity hardcore fest in NYC in May. Go read up on that HERE. If you’re Asian and in a hardcore or punk band in the US – send us your shit! Let’s go.
The band were kind enough to send in the following:
“The Tarrys is a BIPOC Hardcore Punk band from Danbury, CT that started around 5 years ago during the pandemic. Our influences come from older bands like Black Flag, Negative Approach, Youth of Today, and 86 Mentality, with modern bands like Raw Brigade, Restraining Order, and Gag.
With this EP we tried incorporating a lot more dbeat with modern hardcore. We try to use the aggression of music to push out our frustration with the world regarding many things. Ranging from colonialism and war to western civilization. To being Muslim and how we’re perceived. And with the cassettes including our last singles Power Trip and Killing Fields which cover subjects like immigration and the abuse of power. As well as the genocide that’s happen in my home country of Cambodia and how that’s still prevalent in today’s world within other countries and the absurdity of it.”
