Alt Psych Band DEADHEIR Release Debut Album [Hong Kong]

Hong Kong alternative-psych band DEADHEIR have released their debut album ’10th Floor’. Named in homage to garage-rock pioneers 13th Floor Elevators and Pearl Jam’s monolithic 10, the album spans flower power pop-rock to mid-90s grunge.

The album is a collection of living snapshots taken across Hong Kong. The rollicking intro track Days Go By blusters through paranoid anxiety in 3/4 time, before their playlist-popular Feel The Rain brings us back to late 60’s era optimism. The soundscapes are equally as varied, from the melancholic trip-hop of Relentlessly, to the exotica closing track Sunset Over Kowloon (making a brief detour into B-52’s new wave with Time To Go). Through the storytelling of seemingly unconnected characters, the overall message is one of rose-tinted nihilism – a happy soundtrack to the apocalypse.
