NYC Hardcore Band DOG BREATH Fire Shots On New Track ‘Weeds’ [USA]

Yo – there are just some bands that need to be platformed. Bands that have something to say, and not afraid to call it out bluntly. NYC hardcore band DOG BREATH have just released a biting new track entitled ‘Weeds’. The track starts off ominous with a melodic build up establishing a moody tension for the chaos that is about to ensue…and when it does…goddamn. And then the messaging? Fuhgeddaboudit! Shit is HARD.

“I’ve always wondered why spaces that people of color have created for themselves constantly need the validation of non-POC owned labels and bands in order to feel seen.”

In the band’s own words:

“The song was originally written to be a diss track. There was a situation that happened that kind of justified my question as to why this band is provided such a platform and catered to? I’ve always wondered why spaces that people of color have created for themselves constantly need the validation of non-POC owned labels and bands in order to feel seen. Why do we allow them to have such a high platform within our communities? How are bands like them actually helping us beyond providing music about atrocities they don’t have to personally experience, except by choice? …And then getting loaded? Why aren’t we taking the reins?”

RESPECT.
