Malaysian metallic hardcore band, CODE BREAKER, has released a fullset live video of their debut performance. Though they’re yet to release any official recordings, this debut gives fans a glimpse of what’s brewing for this five-piece hardcore/metal force.
Taking cues from influential heavyweights like Knocked Loose, Kublai Khan TX, and Bodysnatcher, Code Breaker has honed a sound that’s as heavy as it is dynamic. According to vocalist Edry, the band’s style incorporates vocal grit akin to Knocked Loose, grooves reminiscent of Kublai Khan TX, and breakdowns that hit with Bodysnatcher-level brutality. Lyrically, Code Breaker dives deep into themes of anxiety, mortality, and the cruelty of world leaders, referencing figures like Netanyahu to explore the darker realities of modern society.
The band is a powerhouse of talent, each member bringing a strong hardcore pedigree. Herumi (active in Seeing the River, ex-Triangular Transmission), Tapa (active in Never Ending Threats & Awaken, ex-Biko Abidin), Iman (ex-Demorforessus & Biko Abidin), Deeqew (active in Seeing the River, ex-Lethal Grip), and Edry (active in Seeing the River & Interaksi, ex-Guitar for Never Ending Threats & Lethal Grip) have come together with a shared vision for hardcore that speaks to their roots and their rage.
Reflecting on their debut, Edry shared their vision for the band’s first single, slated for release later: “Our first single will be titled Angel // Barricade. The intro to Angel leans heavily into Egyptian-inspired sounds, while Barricade is about feeling trapped within the walls I’ve built around myself — watching the violence and brutality outside, unable to do anything.” Code Breaker’s raw honesty and heavy themes make their music a visceral experience, one that hardcore fans won’t want to miss.
Check out their debut fullset video below and stay tuned for updates on Code Breaker’s upcoming releases. The hardcore scene just got a serious jolt of energy—don’t miss out on what’s next from this promising new band.
Check out a brand new Taiwanese hardcore band called GUNPOINT, who’ve just dropped their debut demo ‘Don’t Ever Stop Moving’. The band were kind enough to send us some...
