Hardcore – one of those mammoth beasts of passion where those who are truly inspired and touched by the ideals behind this underground culture traverse the world looking for other hardcore scenes and then doing whatever possible to help support those scenes. There is ONE name in particular in the Asian hardcore scene that I’m CERTAIN every hardcore scene in Asia will have heard of…this AMAZING individual named Kore from Japan.

The first time I met Kore was through an email encounter where he found my name online and told me that he was coming to Hong Kong and was wondering if I could meet up for a drink. Since then, we’ve been good friends where conversations have gone from favorite 90’s hardcore/emo bands to life, love, marriage, and kids. Such is the power of the underground world of punk/hardcore/metal etc…strangers become family.

Kore plays in Japanese beatdown band Blindside but also has recently moved to Vietnam and together with local Vietnamese brothers and sisters has helped ignite a burgeoning scene down there. He opened a label called First and Last Records and has started to put on shows there.

This guy epitomizes hardcore. Positive, fun, laughing ALL the time, and just all around nice guy. Another huge honor to have him submit his top 10 below!
