Gazecore Band Lip Servants Release Split With Vocalist of Punk Band After After Party [Hong Kong]

Hong Kong riot grrrrl mainstay Yanyan Pang has teamed up with Gazecore nihilists Lip Servants for a split release in the spirit of DIY. This is the result of longtime friendship, mutual appreciation, love, and respect between the two acts who both launched their respective projects at the start of summer this year.

After After Party frontperson Yanyan has contributed an achingly beautiful track called ‘Into The Night’ about how beautiful it is to dream about your deceased loved ones in the night, in her case, the song recalls dreaming about her mother. “Thank you so much to Lip Servants for having me and my 2nd solo release! This is a dreamy noise tribute to my favorite kind of dream – A dream with my mother in it. I want to dedicate this song to those who lost their loved ones and still missing them no matter how long it passed, in my case, it has been 26 years already.”

Lip Servants‘ new tune ‘South Caroline’ laments problems resulting from flawed systems and behaviors coming to a head, with people shifting the blame externally towards bad luck and living through a cursed time rather than tackling our own roles in the mess we’ve made. The tune has also been deconstructed for this release by UK-based renaissance road warrior Tim Holehouse.

All the tracks were self-recorded with artwork by Lip Servants’ Glen Lewis. It’s available for free download.
