Day 2 of Asian Oi News – Malaysian Oi Band SINGLE STITCH Drop Debut EP [Malaysia]

Straight from the streets and into your speakers, Malaysian oi band SINGLE STITCH have dropped their debut EP, ‘Three-Chord Knights’. Five anthemic, melodic tracks that wear their Oi!/Punk roots with pride with a couple tracks even sung in Malay.

Formed in 2023, Single Stitch brings together a lineup driven by loud guitars, working-class spirit, and brotherhood anthem. “Most of the songs are telling about brotherhood spirits and friendship. Both songs Hayat Dan Nyawa and Ayuh Lawan are written in Malay language talk about resistance. All in all, we are an Oi! band singing the songs about the skinhead subculture,” state the band as they reflect on the tracks featured. If you’re into acts like Cock Sparrer, The Oppressed, ACAB, or even Rancid, this EP is right up your alley. They explain singing in Malay, “We sing in Malay because it’s the language we live and breathe every day. Music brings people together no matter what language it’s in. Somehow it can represent that skinhead or Oi! bands are multicultural around the globe. Who knows maybe it’s a way to share our language and culture with the rest of the world too.”

RESPECT.
