This is frickin’ hysterical if you have been following what’s been going on in Malaysia the past couple of weeks when an idiotic band chose to release a track with a homophobic lyric. Today we’re not going to waste another second talking about an ignorant piece of garbage band…today we want to talk about one of our favorite Asian artists Fahmi Reza who never shies away from confronting hatred, stupidity, ignorance, corruption whether it’s politics to measly insignificant hateful bands. He excellently took on the band with that satirical promo for a non-existent CD release showcased above. Holy SHIT it is SOOOOO funny!!!
In a world where we everyday citizens have lost trust in our politicians and government, we look to our artists to provide the material needed to maintain momentum for any and all our movements. Here in Hong Kong, we use the DAILY artwork that magically (and tragically) captures the brutality that our youth face at the hands of our gangster police force and our inept, corrupt Hong Kong government, to keep pushing the issues to everyone’s attention by sharing, forwarding, circulating these stark, dark and shocking images. Their artwork captures all the intensity, absurdity, horror, and sadness of our reality. Thus, we must continue to fight for freedom of speech and expression so that these artists can continue to do what they do…so their art can continue to feed our activism…so their art continues to paint the truth of our ridiculous reality at the hands of imbecile politicians and a useless evil police force. So their art can take on racist, homophobic, sexist, ignorant, hateful idiots.
So – we implore you to stand with your artists.
Once the image above went up – said band’s homophobic audience lost their minds (as always) and came to the band’s “rescue”. (Yes, if you are a fan of this band, you too are homophobic.) A couple hours later Fahmi followed this up with a special edition of Butthurt Cream released especially for the audience of this hateful band. Oh, the cream is Halal. hahahahahaha…
Fahmi – you rule.
