Thailand and Indonesian Hardcore Team Up For Massive Split – BLEACH vs. SOUL OF SIN

Bandung hardcore/metal unit BLEACH return with a split release after a long hiatus from the format. This time they team up with friends from Bangkok, a similarly brutal act from the same corridor, SOUL OF SIN. The collaboration results in four tracks compiled in the DARKNESS Split EP, released on March 6.

Bleach admitted that the idea for this split was sparked after hearing Soul of Sin’s demo, which immediately caught their attention. Since Bleach already has a friendship with Whispers, the path to inviting Soul of Sin for this split came quite naturally. On the other hand, Bleach themselves have rarely released split records in recent years. Their last one was the cross-genre split with The Couch Club, Intermezzo (LaMunai, 2022). This new release also serves as a warm-up for their upcoming full-length album, scheduled for release this April.

On this split, both bands showcase their most brutal and intense sides. Each contributes two tracks containing entirely new material that has never been released before. Bleach stays true to their current direction, comfortably exploring the metal/hardcore aesthetics of the late ’90s to early 2000s. Meanwhile, Soul of Sin leans toward a more metallic approach, injecting dense black-metal-inspired riffs throughout the songs. The result is a split filled with breakdowns, dark and heavy metallic atmospheres, while still maintaining hardcore aggression.

In addition to its digital release, DARKNESS EP will also be available in a physical format as a cassette release accompanied by merchandise. The release date for the physical edition will be announced soon.
