NOOSE BOUND Return With a One Two Punch [Indonesia]

Indonesian Metallic Hardcore quartet, NOOSE BOUND, has just released the single “In Silence / I Would Die…” following a three-year hiatus. According to the band, this single consists of two separate tracks merged into one continuous song.

The single draws inspiration from 90s metallic hardcore legends such as All Out War, Integrity, Kickback, etc., yet they add their own twist by adding clean vocal parts reminiscent of Deftones or Vision of Disorder. They credit this shift to long-time influences like Vein.fm, Code Orange, Varials, and Loathe.

“Our consideration for including new elements like clean vocals, dynamic parts, and pattern rotations we’ve never tried before is because each of us felt the desire to explore further as musicians,” the band explained.

On the tracks the band address systemic issues plaguing Indonesia. They cite instances of state officials and policymakers acting arbitrarily at the expense of the people. They noted a local incident involving a stabbing of a member of the Malang hardcore scene.

While previous releases focused on anger, despair, and hopelessness, the band is now aiming that anger toward a more responsible delivery. Lyrically, they have shifted away from the nihilism of early hardcore and metal influences—like Black Flag’s “Nervous Breakdown,” Black Sabbath’s “Behind the Wall of Sleep,” or the themes often explored by the late Indonesian legend Ivan Scumbag of Burgerkill.

The choice to partner with BRIGHTSIDE RECORDS was also intentional, as the band felt the label’s name perfectly complemented the more hopeful message of their new lyrics.
