Thai Punk Band PISTOLS 99 Talk To Us About Their 2012 Album ‘A Kid of The Nations’

This is really cool – Thai punk band PISTOLS 99 sent us a cool little write up about their debut album ‘A Kid of The Nations’ released back in 2012. Huge thank you to vocalist Krit for sending this to us! The full stream of the album can be found further below.

“‘A KID OF THE NATIONS’ was the 1st-full length album we released back in 2012 just about a year after our incarnation in 2011, when we were just a group of 20-year young kids who love punk, rebellion, skateboarding & want to make our name in the world of this subculture we love.

These 13 tracks in this record contained my worldview at the time, it’s a collection of songs I wrote between the ages of 15 – 20 which actually about half of them I wrote when I was in high school. So, what does an angsty teenager write songs about? Everything, from sick of having to get up on a Monday morning to go to school, the fear & rebelling against conforming to society, anger at the heartless capitalism that wants to make us become a robot that only cares about money, writing about politics when you weren’t able to vote yet to the most teenager stuff ever like the girl I had a huge crush on & rebelling against parents & school. It was raw, it was immature yet super sincere.

11 years have gone by, with another full-length & one ultra-political EP out, ‘A KID OF THE NATIONS’ is still a record that people recognize the most about us today. It is the album that put us on the map, especially amongst the people in the Thai punk scene in the 2010s. Nowadays, people still come up to me and talk about how much this record meant to them as a part of the music they listened to growing up which I always will be forever grateful for them. Because though we’ve never achieved our ultimate dream of being a successful artist. These people make us feel like one. We only made 500 physical copies of them and it already sold out years ago. So, I decided to put their favorite record of us to honor their love & support with a bit of hope that the new generation of music listeners would enjoy it too. Because no matter how much the world changes, there will always be angsty teenagers who want to rebel against the world & place they’re living in. And as a 31-year-old man looking back at this record, I think it still captivated the feeling so well.”
