Hong Kong post-hardcore band Stain the Welkins have unleashed a dope music video for quite an emotional new track. When the vocalist Rick goes from epic throat-shredding screams to melodic singing vocals, shit’s unreal, and to do it all in Cantonese where you have to be super careful with tones??? Amazing…
Rick was kind enough to give us more information about the specific song and the music video:
“The song is basically about how our society is completely ruined and destroyed by greed, narcissism, and dishonesty. It makes me think that maybe the only way for us to be reborn is all part of God’s long-awaited plan. The inspiration for all of this came from a video watched recently that was images of flooding and horrifying scenes of murder and destruction at the hands of greedy human beings. All of these things (greed, etc) are what keep us from building a better world. The way I wrote this song is through the lens of science fiction by adding some electronic elements in the bridge of the song to talk about what we’re going to be ruled by eventually and what we will eventually evolve into.
For the music video, our director wants to show the audience a real picture and the reality of our disruptive world, so he conveys the message by using an antiquated TV, playing war scenes filled with crammed soldiers, tanks, and explosions, all of which has taken place throughout history. All the while the dancer is still living in his own thinking of the world at the end, but finally, he understands what has happened cannot be undone, and the reality doesn’t go away even if you don’t believe it.”
So rad. If you get a chance, you gotta see this band LIVE. So dope…
Very cool to see some fellow Asian extreme musicheads who live out here in the west (United Kingdom to be precise) also continuing to actually play music instead of...
