Hong Kong alt-rock band Restate the Moira has released a music video for a brand new single and have announced a live webstream to take place tomorrow night (August 7).
The band was kind enough to send in further info about the new song:
“We were jamming one day and it started off light and funky but then halfway through it suddenly switched to heavy mode. It was all fun at first but then we felt that it would actually be a nice song to work with since it’s so playful and we don’t really have that kind of song. Initially, we named it ‘Angel Demon’ because that’s what it felt like but later on the song reminded us of mood swings as well, hence the name ‘Pendulum Ride’. Some of us have experienced mood swings and it’s a frustrating thing. We wanted to express this experience through ‘Pendulum Ride’. The music video was so fun to do yet quite stressful at the same time because we literally only had 7 hours to shoot (this was due to full bookings at the venue) and that’s actually not enough time to really film everything that we wanted but eventually it worked out well. The aim of this MV was to be as playful and surprising as possible while displaying what stress and mood swings can feel like. We worked with John Razalo (he did HK band Parallel Horizons’ ‘Distress’ MV) and he managed to capture most of the scenes we planned prior in such a short amount of time. We’re very grateful to have him.
We wanted to dress up according to our lifestyle/career such as working in finance, in a lab, a UI/UX designer who simply just wears casual clothes and someone who is the youngest (but is actually working in education) in the band going with the 90’s type of outfit. Yes, we all have actual full-time jobs and the stress is real. What’s really sweet about this release is that it was released on Miki’s birthday (August 6) so it’s like a birthday gift to her.
Another exciting thing is that we have a YouTube livestream show via Espresso Studio on August 7 at 8:30PM so please go to this link | Espresso \ Live | RESTATE THE MOIRA and click on the bell icon to set a reminder. We haven’t been on a show since late 2019 due to Hong Kong protests and Covid-19 so we miss shows a lot. We’re almost afraid of being so rusty haha! But we’re sure it’ll be just fine and we’ll have lots of fun!”
