We were approached by our good friend Joey Dizon of Intolerant and Skychurch fame from the Philippines a few weeks ago. He was excited to announce his new passion project – a podcast series entitled Behind The Stage and was hoping to interview Unite Asia for the debut episode. If you know the pedigree of which this dude comes from – you’ll understand how honored we are! Joey is family and anything he needs, we’re down. It also helps that he’s a frickin’ good guy, highly intelligent, SUPER passionate, knows his shit, and thus anytime we’ve been interviewed by him – the questions are always fresh and the interview just turns into a great conversation.
Check out the full roughly 50-minute conversation further below. Makes for good times while you’re all stuck at home during quarantine, self-isolation or lockdown!
Thank you Joey for your love and support ALWAYS! And thank you to our whole Philippines family for supporting Unite Asia, and actually supporting from the days of King Ly Chee and Start From Scratch Zine, to now in UniteAsia.org and Dagger. Means the world to be embraced by the people of the Philippines!
SELAMAT PO!!!!
“For the debut episode of Behind The Stage, podcast host Joey D. talks to one of the most well-known musicians and supporters of the Asian Independent music scene, Riz Farooqi – formerly the frontman of seminal Hong Kong hardcore group King Ly Chee, and currently guitarist of heavy metal outfit Dagger.
These two longtime friends catchup during the quarantine to talk shop about the hows, whens and whys of the creation of uniteasia.org, the one-man-run website that continues fighting the good fight of Asian independent music, and about Riz’s close ties with the Philippine hardcore/independent scene.”
His series runs on Spotify and has new episodes every Wednesday and Friday. So make sure to follow on the Spotify link below AND his FB page here:
