By now you must’ve heard much about our beloved city and it’s ongoing 6 to 7 months of turmoil. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, we are the kind of city that gets out there to get shit done.
A few weeks ago, local metal promoters Hong Kong Metal Alliance, put on a show featuring all local Hong Kong metal acts in order to raise money for Star Alliance HK – an organziation that provides financial and legal service to arrested or detained protestors. How much did they raise? A whopping 34,350HKD (4,405USD)!!! Hong Kong people are probably one of the world’s most generous bunch – and that goes especially for our metal underground.
Since then, Hong Kong Metal Alliance have continued to support our local bands (as they have been for years) by inviting musicians to put together a 60 minute playlist.
Check out the first two below featuring the guitarist of thrash metal band Charm Charm Chu, and the guitarist of prog-metal band Synergy.

The really cool thing is to also see how our small community here is trying to give back to each other – at the bottom of Hong Kong Metal Alliance’s posts they’ve said “If you like anything you hear here head over to Infree Records to buy the physical product.” Infree Records being our only full on heavy music store in Hong Kong.
RESPECT.
