Last weekend after the tragedy that took place in New Zealand at the hands of a right wing extremist terrorist, word got out that a show was taking place in Malaysia featuring some right wing Malay power bands. After many many Malaysian hardcore and punk rock kids protested the show, asking people to boycott the event, the venue was contacted directly to inform them of the type of show this was and what some of the bands were about.
The venue has canceled the show.
There is no place for any type of facist attitudes in the world we live in today. With freedom of speech comes responsibility for your words and the thoughts/actions that your words could rile up.
Huge love and support to the amazing and passionate Malaysian hardcore and punk rock community who are trying their best to stamp this shit out of their country once and for all. The scene is huge – don’t let a couple idiots taint your view of the Malaysian scene as a whole.
Malaysia will always rule. Amazing country. Amazing people.
To stay informed – here’s an article about Malay power that Vice ran a few years ago. REMEMBER – this is a small minority of people and not in ANY WAY representative of the humongous and extremely loving Malaysian hardcore, punk rock metal community: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/jmv73p/the-malaysian-nazis-fighting-for-a-pure-race
