Malaysian queerpunk band Tingtongketz have released a 3 song EP titled ‘Nyah’. The Malay word ‘Nyah’, which carries two different meanings, perfectly fits the emotional experience that the band’s frontwoman, Shika, is going through at the moment.
This EP contains 3 songs titled ‘Maknyah Murtad’, ‘Buaiku Laju’ and ‘Alam dan Manusia’.
‘Nyah’, supported by community-label Kucing Kotak, was recorded and mixed by Tingtongketz drummer Yon; this time lead guitarist Jez also gave her touch on the bassline of the songs. Not only that, but Kucing Kotak crew members also participated – Yoyo gave a special appearance on Maknyah Murtad’s bassline, and Jessie dropped her vocal harmonies too in the EP.
‘Nyah’ is the third release of Tingtongketz after their album ‘Enjoy the Monsoon’ (2019) and album ‘Misi Destinasi’ (2021).
