Pakistani death metal band Communal Grave call it quits – they’ve released the statement below:
“After a lot of thinking and working on ‘Preacher of Darkness’ for the last 7 months, it has become clearer that the new sound being explored was not remotely close to the sound of Communal Grave. What we achieved with Communal Grave was a testament to the hard work we put in our music and live shows. The legendary status that was bestowed upon us by the hardcore and loyal nexus known as the Karachi Underground was far more than anyone of us could have expected. We thank our fans and our loyal supporters and we are deeply grateful to you for checking out our long-awaited album ‘Solace In Violencia’ and sticking with us throughout the years.
That being said, it has started to feel like what we wanted to say with our music, has been said on ‘Solace In Violencia’. The hunger and thirst that drove us, has been quenched by that endeavor. So with a heavy heart we have decided to call it quits after an odd 10+ years. Karachi Underground will always have a special place in our hearts.
Moving on, not everything is ‘bad news’. I (Jamail Rafi), have formed a new Death Metal Band called ‘Witchspawn’ with Ali Najeeb and the album ‘Preacher of Darkness’ will be released with that moniker. It is a new and fresher sound than our predecessor and completely brutal and heavy in a more OSDM meets Swedish DM variety. It will be out in late 2017. (P.s. the name of this community along with bandcamp will be changed to Witchspawn from now on.)
Sincerely,
Jamail Rafi.”
