New Wave Group Guji Release New Single [China]

This is the 2nd single from the Shanghai-based new wave group Guji entitled “I Like To Hang Out In China”. Made during the last days of the Shanghai lockdown and is the second single from Guji’s forthcoming EP. Guji are the project of Guizhou artist Jiang Zi Xiu and Round Eye frontman Chachy. They’ve cited influences B-52s, DEVO, They Might Be Giants, and Screamers and have gained a small following with their quirky, tongue-in-cheek videos. With the song “I like to hang out in China”, the group sings sarcastically about the joys of living in a totalitarian state during China’s 0-Covid Policy and about the insular world of the Chinese mainland in general. It’s certainly weird and strangely fun.
