Japanese Oi! punk band DRYACID announces its debut Taiwan tour. The Fukuoka Oi! four-piece band will perform 2 gigs with local acts such as Mr.noproperty, Selfish Sucker, OOZEE, Southern Riot, and Eyeball Killer in May.
In 2010, as the hardcore punk revival swept across the globe, another wave was quietly taking shape beneath the surface. A number of bands began revisiting the classic Oi! punk style of the 1980s, joining the hardcore revival movement. Some even ventured further into darker territories like metal, goth, and post-punk. This undercurrent became what we now recognize as the Oi! revival.
In Europe and the U.S., this revival gave rise to distinctive bands such as RIXE, MESS, BATTLE RUINS, and CASTILLO. Soon after, this wave surged eastward, and Dryacid emerged as the perfect response to this Western trend.
Dryacid is an Oi! band from Fukuoka City, Japan. Consisting of guitarist Mottie, bassist Toshi-Hell, drummer Tetsu, and vocalist Crucifive Ten, Dryacid— unlike their predecessors in the Japanese Oi! punk scene, who were heavily influenced by classic British bands like The Business and Cockney Rejects — draws more inspiration from the contemporary Oi! revival in Europe and America. Their sound fuses stomping rhythms, hardcore punk energy, and chilling post-punk elements — all topped off with the catchy and anthemic melodies that make Oi! punk perfect for sing-alongs.
It will not only be DRY ACID’s debut tour in Taiwan but also one of the rare Oi! punk shows on the island in recent years. Suck Glue Boys sincerely invites everyone to experience the power of Oi! punk live and loud.
