This is such a cool announcement on so many levels – not only because a couple of killer Japanese hardcore bands are being brought into Taiwan, but because three amazing Taiwanese entities have come together to make this happen. So dope…
After three years of global pandemics, the connection between inter-Asian punk scenes is beginning to be rebuilt. Suck Glue Boys, Twin Peak Records, and DIRTI are honored to announce Klonns and Kagami‘s first tour in Taiwan.
KLONNS, a hardcore punk band based in Tokyo, has been active since 2016 and have 8 releases to date. Inspired by the new wave of American hardcore emerging in 2010, KLONNS’s early works were infused with blackened hardcore punk such as Sexdrome. With their latest EP “CROWs” released last year, KLONNS have reaffirmed their spiritual identity: a fusion of American hardcore bands such as HOAX, GAG, and classic Japanese hardcore punk from the 1980s. As they claim unapologetically: KLONNS represents the “New Wave of Japanese Hardcore.”
On the other hand, when listening to Kagami, a Tokyo hardcore punk quartet, the audience is immersed in the DC hardcore scene in the 1980s. In their self-titled demo released in 2021, KAGAMI condensed classic acts like Government Issue, Teen Idles, and Youth Brigade into less than six minutes, and make you feel like listening to a record released by Dischord Records. You can’t wait to rush to the concert venue when listening to KAGAMI, whose live performance will definitely make your adrenaline surge.
