It’s been a fucked up year that doesn’t seem to be getting better. But on December 19 and 20, over 20 of the world’s baddest grindcore acts are coming together to provide all of us a few hours of respite. Global Grindcore Alliance have spent months putting together the two-day global event and were kind enough to provide some answers to a few questions we had about it:
Little Puppy Princess [Korea]
This seems like a mammoth task of putting together an online event featuring grindcore bands from all over the world! How did the idea come about and when did you get started contacting bands?
It’s a mammoth task for sure but I think we all have the same common sense of frustration with the things going on around with viruses around the world and wanted to unite to provide a killer event for 2020. RIP to all live venues and outlets of live music. This is the single most important thing that got us started and did this festival in less than 3 months. Hopefully 2021 we all be able to play live, record, and tour. All the proceeds from the tickets, music, and merch sales will go to the bands to keep the spirit of underground music alive.
How were you able to narrow the bands down to these ones? Was there some sort of vetting amongst the organizers of Global Grindcore Alliance? Did you guys have to wrestle each other? hahahaha…
It was pretty easy for us. Because the bands are all we already knew and love, so there wasn’t any sort of vetting. We tried to do the best with what we had. We did have some challenges with bands because of the whole covid thing and restrictions to play live but we pulled through at the end with enthusiasm and grind.
