What’s up all!
We’ve been trying to restart hardcore and punk rock in Hong Kong for the past couple of months. We’re going by the firm belief that before we start putting on shows for overseas bands, it’s time to make sure we’ve spent heart and time rebuilding our own scene and supporting our OWN bands. The first show we put on a few weeks ago was WILD! 6 bands – 3 from Hong Kong and 3 from our sister city Shenzhen just across the border. That show was put on at a smaller venue and it is because of THIS new venue (nice, small and intimate) that we finally have the courage to restart this shit. The show went OFF…and so we feel a little more emboldened to keep doing this periodically.
Our next show we’re spreading our arms a little wider and trying to include our punk rock brethren as well. We invited two local Hong Kong punk bands:
Feel of All
Defiant Scum
to join this new fight. From Shenzhen (we will ALWAYS include Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Macau, etc as part of our scene) we have emotional hardcore band:
What A Beautiful Day
who most recently opened the Bane show in Hong Kong last year and wowed crowds! And of course, we have:
King Ly Chee
on the bill as well – these guys are going off to tour America in July opening Sick of it All’s 30 year anniversary, it’s important that WE in Hong Kong show THEM our full support and respect!
To help punks and hardcore kids understand that we’re all made from the same cloth – the two punk bands will each cover a hardcore song, and the 2 hardcore bands will each cover a punk rock song! Shit’s going to be wild! You want to know what songs these bands will be covering? Check it out below!
If you can make it to the show then come on down!
