Dude…mad respect for Inner Mongolian folk metal band Nine Treasures for making a massive decision in regards to their own art – by doing so, they’re letting the world know that they, as the creators of said art, will decide what they will and won’t do with it.
What are we talking about?
The band announced a week ago that due to their poor quality (according to them) of their previous releases they’ve decided to delete and remove all said content off the internet. They did so because they’re about to launch a brand new ‘best of’ album entitled ‘Awakening from Dukkha’ where a bunch of early tracks is being re-recorded and the production of said record far surpasses anything they’ve done in the past.
Here’s the full statement:
“Hi guys,
We just deleted all the previous albums from the internet, it needs 30 days to complete the removals. yes, that’s true. Because those are not professional records, and we are ashamed of it. we didn’t have the money for pro studio at the time. All work is done by us at little home studio, but you guys supported it so hard and we got an unforgettable journey in the past 10 years. This year is our 10th anniversary! As you know we re-recorded 12 songs that we proud of and named it ‘ Awakening from Dukkha’, it kind of a reborn for us. All the incomes from previous albums will directly go to the promotion campaign for the ‘Awakening from Dukkha’.
We will have a massive China tour to celebrate the anniversary and hopefully will back to Europe again after COVID. We got huge help from Hold Tight PR which is introduced by Natur G just weeks before he passed away. He was trying to help Nine Treasures as much as he can even he was in a really bad situation.
Hope you guys don’t blame us for deleting albums, it’s a really hard decision for us. We really want to have a new beginning and ready for another 10 years with you guys!
And for those who purchased the albums online and haven’t downloaded it yet, you can download the complete discography with the link down below. It’s all 44.1hz WAV files and including high-quality cover art. This discography will not erase for the lifetime, you can come here to download in anytime, but the music will no longer be on streaming platforms.”
Apparently, the band got a lot of push back from their “fans” and then today they released a new statement:
“Hi guys,
Thanks for the comments about deleting old stuff. Just want to express my opinion that I still don’t agree with most of you. The old stuff doesn’t sound great to my ears and the new version sounds awesome! I’m not a good explainer but I just did what I feel right.”
The band has made all their previous materials available for download HERE. But they clearly are pushing their new album HARD. Check out a track and pre-order info below.
