DEMO ALERT: Y’all Need to Fuck With Toronto Hardcore Band ESKRIMA Now. NOW. [Canada]

YOOOOOOO…this debut demo by Canadian band ESKRIMA is hard as fuck. If you’re a fan of bands like Cold World (fuck right off this planet if you’re not) then you gotta fuck with this band. “Sonically, it’s a Toronto band inspired by Wilkes-Barre hardcore (Cold World, Frostbite, etc). Little bit of Cleveland HC, some Detroit, maybe a touch of Iron Age…any band or area that spawned good riffs,” state the band.

What’s even sicker about the band is that they’re entirely made up of Canadian Filipinos. HARD. “The band formed last year when Riz, Ethan, Norm, and I (Ace) all wanted to go to a Filipino cultural event in downtown Toronto. We all liked hardcore, and we’re all Filipino, so it just made sense. Norm knew Neil from seeing him around at shows, and the rest of us recognized him from pulling up to gigs in the loudest Philippines jersey we’ve ever seen, so it was a no brainer.”

No joke – we need to see that jersey.

Lyricaly: “Overall, our songs reflect on growth and finding peace and clarity within ourselves. Others dive into some of the challenges or obstacles growing up and working as an Asian-Canadian. Overall Riz touches on a lot of positive, honest themes, which I always think is really cool for this kind of music. We didn’t set out with any real goals in mind because the band spawned out of our desires to have a fun Filipino circle to exist in, something we were all kind of missing in the past. Maybe tour the Philippines, that’d be amazing.”

NOW GO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR – GO LISTEN TO THIS!
