CENTIPEDE is a Death-Hardcore band from Kuala Lumpur that has just released their debut EP ‘Deformed Truth’. They draw inspiration from bands like Venom Prison, Gatecreeper, and Kruelty to create a sound that is characterized by crushing riffs, thunderous drums, and guttural vocals.
However, the band’s music is not just about aggression and intensity – their lyrics dive into themes related to social injustice, personal struggle, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world.
The band has sent in a track-by-track breakdown:
Track 1 [C.T.P]
-This is where it all begins. Going with the theme of doomsday and the consequences of humanity’s egoistic tendencies, the track suggests that the world is on the brink of destruction, with the “world curtain” closing on humanity.
Track 2 [Pure Chaos]
-The lyrics describe a violent and chaotic scene, with people screaming in terror and begging to be set free. Society seeks revenge for the violence inflicted upon them and is determined to escape the cycle of bloodshed and terror. But achieving this revenge will not be easy, and there will be more violence before it is achieved.
Track 3 [Strain]
-For the third track, it describes someone who is controlled by the system and unable to see the truth. They are complicit in perpetuating harm and are blind to the suffering around them. The lyrics are a call to action to recognize the harm caused by the system and to take action to make things right.
Track 4 [Eyes]
-Instrumental track with guitar loop paired with classical guitar flamenco style; a short break to transition to the next track.
Track 5 [Human Bait]
-This track describes someone that wanted to break down others, but ultimately ends up becoming the victim of their own violent intentions. They are trapped in a cycle of violence and murder, and there is no salvation or escape.
Track 6 [Overseer]
-Overseer describes a harsh reality where misery and cruelty are constant, and the only escape is through waking up from this reality. It’s a call to action to recognize the world as it truly is, no matter how brutal and unforgiving it may seem.
Track 7 [Cherry Tree]
-Final track from this EP, which is an instrumental.
