Chiang Mai Hardcore THE SHREDDER Drop Brand New EP ‘Bloodforged’ [Thailand]

Riff monsters THE SHREDDER hailing from Chiang Mai, Thailand return with a fucking FIRE new EP entitled ‘Bloodforged’. If the band’s press photo isn’t making it clear, everything about this new record of hard-hitting hardcore is a huge step up from previous releases. The band states, “Musically, the EP is a love letter to the New York and New Jersey hardcore scenes of the late ’90s and early 2000s — the very sounds that raised us as a band. So people shouldn’t be surprised to hear heavy breakdowns, two-step rhythms, and that unmistakable East Coast aggression. It’s not about nostalgia — it’s about honoring roots while pushing forward with intent.”

The EP is out on HOLDING ON RECORDS. “The latest EP from The Shredder is a raw, unapologetic statement rooted in defiance, unity, and conviction. Across its tracks, the band doesn’t aim at any one specific target, but rather fires a broadside at authoritarianism and oppressive power structures in all their forms. It’s a rallying cry for those who refuse to stay silent, a middle finger to those who try to control, and a testament to standing firm in your beliefs.”

When the band reminisces on the lyrical content of this EP: “At the heart of the EP lies a deep sense of loyalty — to friends, to crew, to chosen family. It speaks to the bonds forged in fire, the kind of unbreakable connections that make you stand shoulder to shoulder no matter what comes. Every lyric, every riff is a declaration of doing what you believe in with full commitment — no hesitation, no second-guessing. Just action, heart, and grit.”

The band first unleashed information about the EP through the striking artwork they released.

“The artist is a tattooist and part of the CMHC crew whom I’ve known for a long time (click HERE to check out his work). I’ve seen his work for years and always felt that his aggressive oil painting style would capture the energy we’re looking for. It’s also a way to support someone from the Chiang Mai scene. The artwork depicts a demon named Ashura — a deity with both good and evil aspects, much like the inner struggles or desires within human nature. It ties in with the themes in our lyrics, which are rooted in humanism. We believe nothing in this world is purely light or dark — everything exists in shades of grey.”

The Shredder has carved out a sound that is as relentless as it is sincere. This EP isn’t just music — it’s a stance, a pulse, a community. It’s hardcore the way it was meant to be: loud, real, and full of purpose. Go blast this shit now!
