Before y’all read the paragraphs below, just want to thank the dudes in Indonesian black metal punk band VEX for rewriting their entire submission. What often happens is that bands submit info about their releases but for some reason the entire post is about who’s in the band. Unite Asia will always adhere to being a socio-political website that supports movements around the world that try to make shitty world a slightly less shitty place. So when we wrote back to the VEX dudes, they were kind enough to rewrite their entire submission which then focuses more on their lyrical content and what the band is about.
RESPECT.
“We are excited to present our latest EP, “Horror Beyond Nightmares,” from our band VEX, a metal punk outfit that delves into the darker realms of the abyss. This EP features a total of seven tracks, including two reissued demo tracks that showcase our evolution as a band since our last release, a 3-track demo in 2023. With this EP, we have boldly explored our sound, incorporating haunting leads that evoke a sense of horror while maintaining our signature D-beat drumming.
The lyrics of our EP revolve around themes of horror, death, and the universal fears that haunt humanity. We believe that horror and fear are timeless concepts that resonate deeply with listeners. We do not claim to be satanic or idol-worshippers; rather, we are explorers of fear and aficionados of horror. As George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher from Cannibal Corpse once said in an interview, “Enjoying music is akin to enjoying a film.” This philosophy underpins our work, with standout tracks like “Let the Death Come” and the title track “Horror Beyond Nightmares” encapsulating our artistic vision.
The black metal punk scene in Yogyakarta has been incredibly supportive, providing a platform for us to express our thoughts and emotions through our music. As fans of horror and all things terrifying, we draw inspiration from the same sources, making it seamless to translate our ideas into magical and horrific compositions. Each arrangement we create is destined to convey the essence of fear and darkness that we cherish.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to UniteAsia for the opportunity to share our music and message. We hope that “Horror Beyond Nightmares” resonates with you and invites you into our world of sound and fear.”
