Big Up To Fellow Asians Anywhere On Earth Who Send Us Stuff – HAVE A GOOD SEASON [USA]

American indie/emo band HAVE A GOOD SEASON have released a new music video and were kind enough to send in this write up. Big up to people of Asian descent anywhere on the planet who find their way to Unite Asia and want to get their music/video/releases up on the site. Means a LOT to get this kind of love!

“We’re an indie/emo band from NJ, USA called Have a Good Season. Our band consists of myself, Nic Palermo (No Model, Beauty) on vocals/guitar, Dan Sakumoto (Save Face, JAWDUST) on drums/vocals and Daniel Stattner on bass/vocals.

I’m half Japanese, born in Tokyo. Our drummer Dan is half Japanese and half Korean. Our band has always had a strong connection to our Asian roots, as evidenced in past songs such as “Japanese Bonus Track” and “Ramune.” We take inspiration from ’90s college rock, vintage power pop, and midwest emo.

The lyrics in our latest song “Shoes” revolve around themes of nostalgia and childhood, many of which are inspired by my time as a kid spending summers in Japan. The video was shot and directed by Harrison Kraft and features stop-motion animations by Charlee Reiff. We wanted it to be a reflection of the different emotions and experiences we have growing up – the good and bad. Charlee’s animations turned it into something straight out of an old cartoon. Think “Gumby,” or even a show you’d see on Adult Swim in the early 2000’s. It’s a real trip to watch and we couldn’t be happier with it!

In April and May, we’ll be on the road for 6 days with Sweet Pill and Equipment. After that we’ll continue writing and eventually get back in the studio for our next release.”
