We’ve all sat and watched while the same story repeats itself while our people suffer. Just this past week, the corruption of the Philippine government has been laid bare. And we’re not talking about loose change or petty scandal, we’re talking billions upon billions stolen. Billions taken while families lose their homes. Billions taken while people lose their livelihoods. Billions taken while mothers and fathers bury their loved ones. We are sick of it. Tired of it. Done with it.This is the moment we set the fire. And remember this: only we the people decide when that fire ends. Not them. Not their laws. Not their guns. Us. SEPTEMBER 21. Stand with us. Walk with us. In the ashes of their greed, we will build something new. Something ours.”

Powerviolence band NUBIAN SLUGGER unveils their latest track, “Apoy ng Kalayaan”, a furious powerviolence assault that captures the rage, grit and the unbroken spirit of the people. Clocking in with blistering speed, crushing breakdowns and uncompromising vocals, “Apoy ng Kalayaan” is an open letter to a nation exhausted by corruption, exploitation and decades of betrayal. The track channels the anguish of communities robbed of livelihood, shelter and justice but also their unshakable will to rise and reclaim what has been stolen.

Nubian Slugger delivers their message with no frills, no polish, no hesitation just raw chaos drenched in the urgency of the streets. The band states:

“‘Apoy ng Kalayaan’ is for every worker, every mother, every student, every person who’s been silenced and stepped on. They can rob us of our homes, our wages, our future but not freedom. That fire belongs to the people, and that will never die.

This release arrives at a critical moment in the Philippines, as corruption scandals and systemic inequality continue to fuel public outrage.
