Legendary Nepali black metal band ANTIM GRAHAN have released their 8th studio album entitled ‘Funeral Lament’. On this record the band have utilized traditional Nepali folk instruments called Tungna and some local dialects from the rural far western part of Nepal.
The band state, “This album is not just bounded inside black metal. Obviously the music is dominated by elements of black metal but there are lots of experimental things in this album like the use ancients instruments like Tungna, Dhimey etc…We have tried not to play same old pattern of black metal which we and 100s of other bands have been playing throughout the years. The theme of the album is darkness and chaos.”
The band has also released a music video for the title track.
“The song title Funeral Lament means a sorrowful, mournful expression of grief for the dead. The story in this song starts with a man in a dark room, scared and confused. He keeps getting followed by the shadow entity and he keeps running. He is dragged/drowned, tortured but he doesnt understand who and why. As he keeps running away, he sees the light in the dark. And when he reaches the light, he sees his own funeral pyre. And after his body is burnt, his soul is taken by the entity and he goes back to the same place where he started. And then he sees his dead body hanging and understands that he committed suicide and he has been dead all along. Hence he gives up and follows the dark entity and surrenders himself to eternal darkness.
The song itself is represented in a way that he is singing for someone’s demise and later he finds out it is him who was dead throughout.”
