After a six-year hiatus, Singaporean pop punk band FADER emerges from the shadows with a poignant and introspective EP that speaks volumes to the band’s journey of self-discovery and emotional resilience. Titled “I’m Sorry This Took A While, I Haven’t Been Myself Lately,” this long-awaited release is a testament to the band’s unwavering commitment to authenticity and raw vulnerability.
Navigating the complexities of adulthood while grappling with the haunting echoes of the past, Fader bares their souls in this raw and emotive EP. Lead vocalist Hanirusyaidi reflects on the band’s extended absence, stating, “These past six years have been a whirlwind of growth and uncertainty. As working adults, we found ourselves lost in the maze of life, unsure of our path forward.”
The EP’s opening track, “Motions of Life,” serves as a haunting reflection on the passage of time and the enduring weight of past traumas. With haunting melodies and introspective lyricism, Fader delves into the struggle of reconciling one’s present self with the echoes of teenage angst. “Despite years of growth and maturity, I find myself still haunted by the same demons, subdued and silenced by the weight of life’s challenges,” Hanirusyaidi shares.
The EP’s second track, “Coming Clean,” delves into the depths of emotional trauma, exposing the scars left by growing up in an abusive household. Through poignant lyricism and haunting melodies, Fader bravely confronts the painful truth of seeing one’s childhood idol transform into a flawed and hurtful figure. “Coming Clean” serves as a cathartic anthem for those grappling with the aftermath of emotional abuse and the journey towards self-reclamation.
