We’re here to help support/announce a badass new initiative being taken by two amazing groups trying to push punk/hardcore/metal music in Vietnam AND also trying to take it to the next level.
Tup Tac Records is a primarily pop punk-focused label in Vietnam that houses bands like Da So Toi (pictured above), the GIGANTIC JUGGERNAUT band 7uppercuts, Jaigon Orchestra, and Do it dad.
And Godforbid Crew is a crew of Vietnamese bands way more on the heavier side that includes hardcore metal, beatdown, deathcore bands like District 105, Bao!, Elbowdrop, Diarsia.
Both of them have come together to try to take the Vietnamese scene to the next level by announcing a series of dates all across Vietnam including smaller markets that don’t see much activity. The vocalist of District 105 states, “Vietnam lacks any sort of touring culture and even though it looks like the scene has gotten so much bigger and there are far more bands now, they’re all mainly concentrated in Saigon and Hanoi. What this means is that all the big names like 7uppercuts etc. are fully saturated and new bands have no gigs to play. So what I’m trying to do with this series of tours is to open up more spots all over Vietnam with the ultimate aim that tone day we can our own version of a Vans Warped Tour in the future.”
SO DOPE! That’s a mighty big aspiration and one that Vietnam could definitely pull off in time.
“Our new stops will be Ca Mau, Da Nang, Saigon, Can Tho, Hanoi, and probably Tay Ninh and Kien Giang by the end of the year too. It’ll be one show in each of these cities a month across the year. We’ve already announced the first one to place on March 17 in Ca Mau.”
Go support all these amazing bands and these promoters!
