Up-and-coming Singapore alternative metal band SOLVANT makes their debut with the release of their song “Too Many Heroes”. A hard rock number featuring crushing riffs, soaring vocals, and a steady thumping beat, it renders a heavy blend reminiscent of the likes of Rush, Alter Bridge, and Tool.
Too Many Heroes addresses an eddying tension and irony that the band often sees present today – while many believe they are “heroes” championing their respective causes, in actuality, not all deserve the title.
Consisting of vocalist Zed Tan, bassist Isaac Tan, guitarist Norman Lee, and drummer Melvin Liu, SOLVANT’s music seeks to paint a story through a dynamic brand of alternative metal that is not only power-packed and groove-laden, but also explores melodic and ambient sensibilities to create an overall dark, eerie and ominous sound.
Formed in 2016, the band members were first musicians from the National University of Singapore’s rock music collective NUS Amplified, and quickly bonded over their love for heavy music and a common ambition to write and perform original music.
Too Many Heroes not only marks SOLVANT’s debut, but also cements the beginning of an epic story that the band aspires to tell in a two-part concept EP planned for release over the next 2 years.
Drawing inspiration from the sun which is at once incandescent and sublime, yet holds the capacity to destroy, the EP will relate an apocalyptic tale tracing the delusion and self-destruction of mankind, ultimately leading to the eventual desolation of the earth.
