20 Year Veterans of Indonesian Hardcore Punk – SATCF – Return With a Banger [Indonesia]

We all should know by now that the Indonesian scene is fertile grounds for some of the best hardcore on Earth. Indonesian band SATCF is one of those bands that shows you that within these fertile grounds just how much of “adjacent” hardcore also exists – and how, just like the rest of the Indonesian scene, it’s just as badass.

Formed in 1999, SATCF is a band that blends punk rock, hardcore, alternative rock, and rap to create something more forward-thinking – but all about that damn groove.

The band’s latest single is entitled ‘K.I.M (Keep It Moving)’, reaffirming their relentless spirit after more than 20 years as a Malang-formed punk rock force. The track carries SATCF’s signature punk energy while adopting a modern edge to cut through today’s dense streaming landscape, channeling restlessness, perseverance, and social protest from the perspective of an Indonesian living amid fascism, police brutality, corruption, ecological neglect, and abuse of power, emphasized through lines like “Aiming for the top / Started from the bottom now we here” and “Hands in the air / we screamin’ for change,” and drawing contemporary inspiration from artists such as Joey Valence & Brae, End It, and Angel Du$t, while still rooted in punk, hardcore, and rap.

Looking ahead, SATCF is preparing a series of new singles—including Indonesian-language releases—that will balance sharp social commentary with more personal, everyday narratives, with “K.I.M (Keep It Moving)” representing one side of that spectrum.
