What Happens When Vietnamese Beatdown Meets Hip Hop? DISTRICT 105’s New Banger

No joke…Vietnamese beatdown band DISTRICT 105 never half-ass anything. The band has always kept quality at the core of everything they do from the music itself to their visuals. This music video from their brand new banger ‘Crow On Hyenas’ featuring Vietnamese rapper Dlow is case in point.

Read up on the background to this song and then realize how much harder the song is.

“Never afraid of a little controversy, District 105 takes aim at those outside of hardcore culture who use it as a tool to sell their music. Inspired by rapper McK’s on-stage remark, “Ở đây chỉ có mosh pit, ai sợ thì đi về” (“There is only a mosh pit here—if you’re scared, go home”), the band directly calls out anyone out for failing to acknowledge and understand the roots of hardcore and it’s community. Teaming up with Dlow, District 105 delivers a powerful message: Understanding and respecting the roots of the scene isn’t optional—it’s essential. This is how it’s supposed to be done.”

The band were quick to point out, “A lot of rappers here don’t know shit about “moshing” but use this language on stage and then the mainstream media here and dumb hiphop sites jump on the bandwagon totally disregarding the existence of the hardcore scene right here.”

Goddamn.

This one track packs the punch you need in beatdown. And lucky for all y’all, DISTRICT 105 has a full new EP in the works.
