UKXASIA: UK Based Hindu Beatdown Band SWEAR DOWN Release New EP [UK]

Well well well…as soon as we heard about a Hindu Beatdown band here in the UK, you KNOW we had to hit them up.

Vocalist of the UK based Hindu beatdown band, SWEAR DOWN, was kind enough to send in a background to the band as well as talk to us about their brand new EP streaming below.

Martin states, “Swear Down is a local phrase. It’s when you emphasise something is true, plus being a Hindu Beatdown band, “Swear Down” is like devotion to the religion and that’s the hard truth (for me only, none of the other boys are Hindu). You swear down on the devotion. That just sounds poncy answer really but yeah, Swear Down Chavvy!”

In case you’re like us and wondering what “poncy” means – you’re welcome:

“In terms of our sound, Mez writes all the riffs. He listens to death metal and early beatdown bands like bulldoze, swear to god and six ft ditch. I mainly listen to old NYHC bands and 90s Hip Hop, probably doesn’t come across that much in what we play. Everyone in the band likes different shit so when it all comes together it sounds pretty sick. The lyrical themes would mainly be my devotion to Shiva, working class mentality and living and anti fascist sentiments. Every song contains at least one of these.”

Huge respect to the band for putting some meaning behind heavy riffs. In today’s hardcore, this seems pretty few and far between.
