It’s always cool to have moved to a new country, thrown yourself into the local scene, and in the process gotten to know all the insanely talented bands that roam around in these waters. Then, when one of these bands heads out on tour to where you’re originally from? YO! That shit is priceless…
Friends in UKHC badasses SPLITKNUCKLE have announced an Asian tour care of GID WRECK UNIT and all the local promoters.
When we asked the band what their thoughts were about this first trip out East, they said:
“Firstly, playing Asia is something we never ever thought would happen. From our generation of hardcore it was bands like Despize and Demonstration of Power who proved it was possible and also linked us up to chat with Asa who runs Gid Wreck Unit.”
On that front, Asa, of GID WRECK UNIT, added:
“Ben from NORTHERN UNREST hit me up a few months ago right before we did the Despize/DoP tour to see if I wanted to book Splitknuckle which I was definitely down to do. Got in touch with Larry who plays in the band via IG to try and get it done and we managed to work things out.
I’ve seen the band live once at Northern Unfest and I just thought that they were amazing live. Everyone was just kinda going crazy during their set. So I’m hoping that all the shows in Asia will pop off and the kids will mosh hard!”
And the band wraps it up with, “To say it’s an honour to visit these countries is an understatement, the influence that some of these countries have had on hardcore often goes overlooked. I cannot wait to visit, meet people for the first time and reunite with old friends, but most importantly… To check out real local bands from these areas to catch a glimpse of how things are done there. Since we’ve released our album the blessings seem to have been non stop.. and that’s not to say that we haven’t been putting in work for years, but it’s good to stay humble and realise – hardcore is one of, if not the biggest blessing in mine and so many others’ lives. I can’t wait to be amongst more hardcore heads from the other side of the world.
Infinitely blessed and infinitely grateful for this thing that found us.”
Let’s go. Set this shit OFF Asia!
