UK X ASIA
As part of a newer UK X ASIA series on the site, we’re going to start showcasing UK bands that features Asian members in their lineup. This is because my family and I have recently immigrated to London and want to build some sort of meaningful bridge between the UK and Asian scenes.
Check out London-based punk rock band VAMPIRE SLUMBER PARTY who feature two members of Indian descent in the lineup. The band has recently released a self-titled EP for fans of Iron Chic and Alkaline Trio.
The band stated, “Vampire Slumber Party started as the lockdown solo project of London-based musician Yusuf Laher (Laserchrist, Paperjets, Crash Island), who released the band’s debut album, Funeral Pop, in 2021. Since then VSP has evolved into a three-piece, real-life pop-punk / indie-punk band, thanks to the addition of Pippa (Werecats, Blank Heads) on bass and backing vocals and Charlie Gray (Laserchrist, Kingfisher) on drums. Ear Nutrition described the sound as, “conversational storytelling [that] nuances the modern perceptions of pop-punk.” It’s pop punk with fangs; honest, raw and up-tempo, with a thirst for tasty melody. The album was released on limited edition cassette (on Welsh label Brassneck Records) and digitally on all streaming sites in April 2023. It was mixed and recorded by me at Uncle Leo’s Studios, London and mastered by Daly George at The Ranch Production House, Southampton. The artwork is by Jason Lubrano from legendary NY punk band Iron Chic and Righteous Indignation design.”
Yooooo…it’s been so long…check out South Korean hardcore band NO SHELTER on this brand new hard-hitting EP entitled ‘Life is Justification’. “We’ve signed with the Ohio-based hardcore label DELAYED...
