One of Cambodia’s longest-running bands, NIGHTMARE A.D. are busy churning out an album of Dystopian Thrash Metal in 2023, musically influenced by a variety of bands such as SACRILEGE (UK), DARK TRANQUILLITY, ANACRUSIS, VOIVOD, NOCTURNUS, CARCASS, WOLFBRIGADE, FEAR FACTORY and CORONER.
The album, titled “Caricatures of a Delusion”, delves thematically into modern non-fictional subjects such as the polarisation of viewpoints, echo chambers and manipulative narratives driven by autocratic fascists and religious extremists. Mia Priest (vocals/guitar) elaborates further, saying: “Corporations, lobbyists, politicians and influencers that support and profiteer off divisive ideologies have corrupted our sense of self-worth and empathy for others, by spreading disinformation on social media and subverting truths with lies. These fascists/extremists and their supporters in the media attack and dehumanize vulnerable communities to distract and subvert the public from their true aim: destabilizing democracies worldwide to establish their own systems of absolute control. However, we will not stand idly by as the world burns; we are fighting back in our own ways, and this album is a reflection of these times.”

The album will contain 8 tracks with some surprise guest appearances. The album is currently being recorded, more details will be announced in the next few months (track listing, mixing/mastering, guest artists, etc.)
Until we get a taste of the new tracks, check out the band’s previous release as well as a cool little video documentary below.
